Knowledge Transfer and Local Technology Development
Education. Development. Local Support.
Africa Developer Comunity
Knowledge transfer, local technology capacity building and tourism digitalisation.
Africa Developer Comunity is an initiative through which we make existing technology and infrastructure accessible to local developers and IT companies, transfer practical knowledge, and establish a foundation for independent work.
The initiative has already started. Its further development focuses on building local capacity for training, application development, and technology support for tourism businesses.
Our contribution includes technology, expertise, training, and practical support. Tourism provides a concrete field in which participants can apply their knowledge, develop products, and deliver services to local companies and organisations.
Social Responsibility, Education, and Knowledge Transfer
We put social responsibility into practice by making our technology, infrastructure, experience, and professional work available to support local communities.
Our involvement focuses on transferring knowledge that local professionals can independently apply, develop further, and pass on to others.
Training is based on access to APIs, documentation, development approaches, and the practical knowledge needed to build functional applications. It is connected to concrete projects and tourism business requirements, allowing participants to gain experience in development, integration, implementation, and maintenance.
The model centres on training local teams composed of African Developer Comunity professionals. These teams will lead the further education of developers and other technical participants in their communities. This establishes a local knowledge base capable of training new participants and expanding the community's activities.
Our role includes preparing these training teams, mentoring them, and providing technical support. Particularly during the initial phase, we participate directly in training and projects wherever additional assistance is needed. As local teams gain experience, they take on a greater share of training and support.
Local Development, Support, and Independent Business Opportunities
Existing technology and infrastructure provide a foundation on which local developers and IT companies can build their own solutions.
This reduces the underlying infrastructure they need to develop themselves and allows them to focus on specific user needs.
Development opportunities include web and mobile applications, specialised user interfaces, business processes, integrations, and other customised solutions. These may serve an individual safari operator, a destination management company, a destination, or a broader segment of the tourism market.
Local developers participate as independent creators of products and services. They can develop their own brand, user experience, and business model, while building relationships with their own clients. The technology foundation supports both client-specific applications and products that can serve multiple companies and organisations.
Local support is an essential part of this model. Professionals who understand the language, business environment, and user needs can provide implementation, training, maintenance, and further development within their own communities. This creates direct cooperation between the local IT sector and tourism businesses.
These activities create opportunities to earn revenue through product development, customisation, integrations, implementation, and ongoing technical support.
Young People, Local Knowledge, and Economic Value in Africa
The initiative also involves young people who want to develop technical skills and participate in concrete projects.
Access to technology, mentoring, and real business requirements gives their motivation and abilities a practical direction.
Connecting education with projects allows participants to develop more than technical skills. They also gain experience in client communication, understanding business processes, organising work, and maintaining products over time.
The objective is for local professionals to undertake a greater share of the work generated by tourism digitalisation. A larger proportion of revenue from development, implementation, and support can then remain within the local economy, alongside the knowledge and experience gained through delivery.
This creates opportunities for skilled employment, independent businesses, and local IT companies. Young people can build their professional future from within their communities while working for local and international clients.
Experienced participants can gradually become mentors, trainers, and project leaders. This expands local capacity to educate new generations and independently develop technology businesses.
A Self-Sustaining Community and Africa as a Future Development and Support Centre
The long-term objective is a community that connects education, product development, and technology services.
Local training teams maintain and transfer knowledge, while developers and IT companies apply that knowledge through commercial projects.
The community's economic foundation should grow through work independently delivered by its participants: applications, integrations, customisation, implementation, maintenance, and support. As more tourism companies digitalise their operations, demand for these services can expand and create opportunities for additional professionals.
Cooperation between training teams, developers, and tourism companies allows project experience to feed back into education. New knowledge and practical solutions become available to subsequent participants, while local teams can also train new trainers.
This approach establishes a foundation for Africa to become a central location for user application development and technology support for tourism businesses. Its considerable potential of young, capable, and motivated people can develop through education and practical work into professional capacity serving African Developer Comunity and international markets.
Our long-term contribution is a technology foundation and knowledge transfer that enable local communities to continue developing independently. The intended outcome is local teams that train others, companies that develop their own products, and professionals who support tourism businesses within their communities and internationally.
